Neighbourhood Watch is the largest community safety organisation in the country and works by developing close liaisons between households in a neighbourhood and the local police.


The aims of Neighbourhood Watch are:


There are over 8,700 neighbourhood watch schemes across the Thames Valley. Each scheme has a co-ordinator, who is in contact with their regional administrator. They act as a link between the community, the police and other agencies. Schemes can include two or three neighbours in a village or entire housing estates in large towns. The whole of Wendlebury is a neighbourhood watch area.

4 offences occurred yesterday which may of may not be connected, and possibly the offenders are travelling across our area.
An attempt distraction burglary occurred in Kirtlington, where a male claimed to be a plain clothed police officer. Fortunately the resident did not let him into the property.
Two attempted burglaries took placed one in Bladon and another in Wendlebury. No entry was gained thankfully. A red family sized car was seen at the two incidents which may be connected.
And finally a burglary took placed in North Leigh, Witney. Entry was at the rear of the property, through a conservatory.
We have just been notified about another incident in West End, Launton, which may be part of this series of incidents. A bugalow has been targeted, offenders did not gain access, but tool marks have been left around window and damage to patio doors
Please alert neighbours and remain extra vigilant. If you see a red car or any other suspicous vehicles, please take vehicle registration number and direction of travel. If you see anything suspicious or have any information please telephone the police on 0845 8 505 505 with information or 999 for immediate police attention.
