Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting 2008
Present: Cllrs Anna McDonagh, Kathy Sharp, Jackie Hucker, Chris Burton, Caroline Abbott, Cty. Cllr. Charles Shouler, 6 residents, Shirley Parker – Parish Clerk.
An informal meeting held as a meet your Parish Councillors with drink and nibbles supplied by the Chairperson of the Parish Council Anna McDonagh.
The Chairperson gave her annual report as follows –
- The pavement in St Giles Close has been renewed.
- Flooding again occurred in July and the Parish council has purchased 2 signs (kept in her garage) to be placed at either end of the village when flooding happens again and we are beginning the process of working on a Flood Plan.
- The newsletter is now edited by Mike Broun and it is hoped that there will be 4 issues per year.
- Traffic monitoring has taken place by both a sensor located within the limits of the village and also by Thames Valley Police – both report no problems with excessive speed.
- Planning applications have been dealt with and the latest for a business park between Tesco and Wyvale raised concern over traffic implications for Wendlebury and as a result money will be made available to us possible for traffic calming.
- A weight restriction has been applied for and is due for public consultation during May.
- Canvassing took place on the installation of ‘dog poo bins’ most were against.
- Members of the council have attended a wide variety of meetings.
- The stiles in the Churchyard and the Oxford Road end of the public footpath have been replaced by gates making access much easier.
- We have recently attended meetings in connection with the Local Development Framework and commented on various applications put forward for inclusion.
- A protest group ‘The Weston Front’ has been set up primarily for Weston on the Green but also to include the surrounding villages against the proposed eco-town and a group has been set up in the village (not Parish Council led).
- Anna said thank you to Frank Shouler who has recently resigned as a Parish Councillor and thanked him for his many years service to the village and also thanked the Parish Clerk, Parish Councillors and both the District and County Councillor for their hard work throughout the year. The challenge for both the Parish Council and the village will be the proposed new town.
Questions raised after Anna’s report –
- 1.following attendance at a Flue Pandemic meeting were the Parish Council considering a disaster plan of their own – answer – yes they were – we had been unable to attend due to work/prior commitments – details of the meeting had been requested and any likely plan would cover all emergencies.
- 2.noise abatement – should the field at the Rectory Close end of the village be included in the LDF would the PC consider requesting a bund along the A41 – yes they would
