The Autumn Classic returned to Cherwell edge this year, our third visit. As usual the reception was great as were the Bacon rolls! The 19 attendees first played the traditional Texas scramble on the more picturesque back 9. The greens had been spiked and were far from their best, however as the man says “it’s the same for everyone”
The winning team with a gross 2 under par were Richard Sheehan, Andy Dudley and Howard Lancaster.
Following a hearty lunch, we headed out for the main event, there was some sadness at the absence of a ‘rules lecture’ from our organiser Roddy, but we ploughed on regardless.
The minor prizes were contested and won as follows;
| Longest Drive | Mike Dallas |
| Nearest the Pin in 2 | Steve Booker |
| Nearest the Pin | Paul Dillon |
| Turkey | Paul Dillon |
The Stableford was a close run contest which was concluded as follows;
| First | Richard Sheehan|
| Second | Simon Nicholson (Count back) |
| Third | Mark Abbott |
As is now our society rules the first three will receive punitive handicap cuts for the forthcoming events.
We announced on the night that the WAGS are opening a Bank account. This will enable member to pay subs by Standing Order.
