The Cake Competition
Once again the cake competition is being judged by Pauline Goddard, Chairman of the Oxfordshire Federation of Women's Institutes.
Entry is free and cakes must be delivered to the village hall by 12:30 to ensure that you stand a chance of winning when Pauline starts the judging at 1.00 pm.
Unless you request otherwise your cakes will be sold to raise funds .
American Brownies - Oven 180 C, 350 F, Gas 4
- Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- 8oz caster sugar
- 2oz butter, melted
- half teaspoon vanilla essence
- 3oz plain flour
- 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
- half teaspoonful baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- Definitely no nuts!
Grease an 8 inch square tin. Whisk eggs and sugar together until
mixture is thick and creamy. Beat in the butter & vanilla essence.
Sieve the flour, cocoa, baking flour and salt and fold into the mixture.
Turn into the prepared tin and bake in a moderately hot oven for
40-45 minutes, then cut the brownies into squares and remove while
still warm.
