Queens Jubilee Fundraising
It is always difficult to ask for money, but here I am. To help fund the village Queens Jubilee Garden Party we need some sponsorship from local businesses or individuals. Several local businesses have very kindly already donated some money to the event, but we still need more to help pay for all the events and the beacon. Those businesses or individuals who do fiscally support the event will appear on the "Our Sponsors" board at the event. Contact Cliff Burton, 9 Farriers Mead or 01869 244497)

Allotments
As you may be aware we have been trying to gain some land for allotments for the village and I am delighted to inform you that we have now been offered an excellent site on a long term license from the Howard Family. In order to progress to the next stage we are undertaking a survey to establish who would like an allotment.

Messy Church
April 22nd, 27th, 4-5.30pm in Kirtlington Church
For families, food and fun. For craft, creativity, celebration and chat. For wonder, worship and wizziness!
Messy Church has started with a bang and a splash: we are thinking about New Starts, and so in January we thought about God making the world, and in February we looked at the new start God provided for the world through Noah, saved from the flood.
Kirtlington Church has been alive with activity as about 70 people of all ages joined in the craft, some modelling amazing colourful clay animals, others constructing a nearly-life-size Noah’s Ark, or sampling from the fruit juice cocktail bar, before taking part in a celebration time of story, song and prayer, after which we have all sat down to a very happy meal together.
Our next Messy Church on April 22nd is a New Start with Jesus, as we look back at the Easter story, and everyone of any age is most welcome – every month is a New Start at Messy church so newcomers, male, female, young or old, with a family or without, will quickly feel at home.
Come and give it a try for a Sunday afternoon to remember!

Queens Jubilee History Project
Is there a willing volunteer in the village who would like to take the lead on organising a display of the history of the village for the Jubilee event. We already have lots of resources ready for display in the village hall but we need someone to organise and co-ordinate them and just ensure we have everything attractively displayed.
Plenty of help is available so no need to have any expertise.
If you are interested please ring Anni on 01869 243052 or e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . I am happy to answer any questions.

Challenging the Men of Wendlebury
From Anni Thompson:
It is well known in Wendlebury that we have a great many good male cooks living in our midst. When we eat out on the Travelling Supper or at friends and neighbours it is often the male of the household who produces the delicious dishes of which we partake.
However now we have made a challenge to the men of Wendlebury to show us what you can produce as either a cold canapé or a hot main course and let us judge your food -----and you are SLOW at volunteering.
This is a fun event. No real experience is required as you decide what to produce and prepare it in advance. You bring it to the village hall where you can titivate or finish off your dish, heat it through etc. For a canapé you need enough to give up to 40 guests one each, for the main course just enough to give everyone a taste of your dish.
So there is no risk that you might make a fool of yourself, burning the hall down, getting loud suggestions from the fairer sex, tossing a pancake etc. And even better we are paying you for your ingredients ( generous maximum level applies ).
Help us create a successful fun evening in the bleakness of a February weekend. If interested please e-mail or speak to Gordy Wills, Lois Lancaster, Graham Brown, Anni or Steve Thompson for further information as soon as possible.
Walking 19th January
From Mark Rogers:
Hope you're all well and have enjoyed the festive period.
I would like to arrange a 6.5 mile circular walk from Piddington on Sunday 29th January. Starting at 10.30am from the road junction by Piddington church.
Again, parking may be a problem so lift sharing might be advisable.
Look forward to seeing you all there.

From Dianna Broun
If anyone has old blankets, towels or duvets, they are urgently needed by Ardley Rescue Kennels. If you do, could you please either ring me on 01869 245033 and I can collect them, or drop them off at 25 Rectory Close - if not in, please leave behind the side gate. Many thanks

Bounce-fit comes to Kidlington
Messy Church
Families, food and fun, craft, creativity, celebration and chat.
That’s what makes Messy Church so popular in so many places, and, three cheers! because...
is coming to The Akeman Benefice. Messy Church is a rapidly-growing nationwide activity which aims to provide people of all ages with a relaxed, creative time together, followed by a very short, informal worship time and then a meal. It is NOT a leave-your-children-and-collect-them-later event but very much for the whole family to have a good time together and to have the chance to chat with others, too. Activities for all ages are provided. It aims to be very accessible and friendly. The whole thing will last about an hour and a half, including the meal, and will be monthly, on a Sunday afternoon, in Kirtlington Church.
The first ever Messy Church in our villages will take place on Sunday January 29th, 4 - 5.30pm. Come along and give it a try. No need to book, though catering will be easier if you let us know you are thinking of coming, so you can email Joanna on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. After that, the next few dates are: Sundays Feb 26th, March 25th, April 22nd, and May 27th.

Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance
The following from Eleanor Green, Oxfordshire Fundraising Manager, Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust
As the Oxfordshire Fundraising Manager for the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance, I am looking to recruit some new volunteers for our busy events calendar in 2012 and am eager to reach as many local communities as possible.
With no central Government or National Lottery funding, we rely on the local communities throughout Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire to keep this emergency service operational 365 days of the year. We are looking for individuals who like meeting new people, trying new things and want to join a fantastic social network by volunteering a few hours a week to their local Air Ambulance. We provide training and pay all reasonable expenses, so you will never be out of pocket, and with 200 events attended in Oxfordshire throughout 2011, there will be an event to suit everyones tastes.
Without our volunteers, we simply couldn't do what we do. For more information about TVACAA please visit www.tvacaa.org or contact me on or at
